Pasquale Natuzzi
"When someone asks me what is the secret of an exciting story like ours,
simply answer: Love for our work.

After all these years, this is still the thread that holds together the past, the present, and our values – which have not changed over the years: unconditional love for our family and our roots, honesty towards our customers, a sense of responsibility towards those who work with us, and respect for the environment we all inhabit. We put our most sincere passion into what we do, searching for perfection, beauty, and harmony inside and outside us. Every day like the first day. We firmly believe that being entrepreneurs means first of all to be committed to common growth and being a genuine example for our children, our community, and our country. Love for our work: this is what made us the greatest artisans in the world."

How it all started
How it all started

Pasquale Natuzzi, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Natuzzi group, began his career at a very young age. The son of a cabinet maker, at the age of 19 he opened a workshop in Taranto, where he and his three assistants made sofas and armchairs for the local market.

In 1962 he moved to Matera, where he started a trade experience that gave him to gain a thorough understanding of the problems and dynamics of distribution.
In 1967, still in Matera, Pasquale Natuzzi went back to his first love: the production of sofas and armchairs, this time on an industrial scale.

In 1972 he established Natuzzi Salotti S.r.l. A year later, due to a fire that completely destroyed the Matera site, Pasquale Natuzzi decided to relocate production to Santeramo in Colle (Bari, Italy), where the Group is currently headquartered.

The 1980s
The 1980s

In the early 1980s, during a trip to the USA, Pasquale Natuzzi saw the opportunity for a major innovation: make leather sofas - elite products at the time - more democratic.

1985 was marked by the creation of Natuzzi Upholstery Inc., headquartered in New York, to serve North American customers.

Success in the United States, confirmed by the listing on Wall Street in May 1993, was a springboard for  Natuzzi to conquer other markets, mainly in Europe and the Far East, where in just a few years the Group established its leadership.

In 1998, confirming its strong ties to the American market, Natuzzi inaugurated in High Point, North Carolina a futuristic building designed by architect Mario Bellini, which houses the offices of Natuzzi Americas and an 8,000 square meter showroom.

While continuing its expansion in the North American market, the Group strengthened its presence in Europe and in Italy. The Nineties saw the creation in Taranto, by Pasquale Natuzzi, of the first store of the Divani & Divani by Natuzzi franchise – today there are more than 1,140 Natuzzi stores worldwide, as testament to the success of his idea.

With the same passion, Pasquale Natuzzi continues to oversee personally the strategic activities designed to strengthen the brand with investments in research and product innovation, marketing, communications and personnel training, working side by side with the Group's managers to define future strategies.

After 57 years of challenges and insights, Natuzzi is the largest Italian furniture manufacturer and the only global player in the industry, with 8 production facilities, 12 sales offices and stores everywhere in the world.

Pasquale Natuzzi was born in Matera, lives in Santeramo, is married and has 5 children.
